About

RestorePumicestonePassage.org has been established by local community groups in the Pumicestone Region who are committed to halting and reversing the ongoing declines in water quality, biodiversity and ecological function in the Pumicestone Passage that are arising from rapid development on Bribie Island and in the adjacent catchments.

One way to actively combat the ecological decline is to intervene and conduct restoration activities, such as shellfish reef restoration. Scientific investigations have been conducted since 2014 and pilot shellfish reef restoration trials in Pumicestone Passage have been in the water since December 2017, with promising results that indicate restoration is not only feasible, but worthwhile.
